Why You Should Highly Consider Going to ‘Winter X Games’ by Cody Ewing

It is currently 8:03 pm Sunday, January 27th and writing this blog right now will be the conclusion to my favorite weekend of the year. The “Winter X Games” take place every year at the end of January in lovely Aspen, Colorado. It is three days of the best winter athletes in the entire world competing in outrageous events that really make you feel like you’re actually not that good at anything you enjoy doing.

Let’s dive right into why I, and many other people enjoy this one weekend of #XtremeWinterSports. First, X Games events are free and open to everyone, yes completely free, literally anyone is welcome to walk on to “Buttermilk” mountain and watch someone do a switch triple-cork 1620 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lh5-Gjh-y-M watch this if you have no idea what any of those words mean) for no money at all.

There are also a series of concerts held during X Games, however they do cost money to attend and the artists booked are mainly of the EDM variety. I do not enjoy this musical genre so I generally do not attend these concerts. That being said, if you’re into the “electronic dance music”, I’ve heard from my rave enthusiast acquaintances that the concerts are an absolute blast.

Winter X Game’s main demo is largely the young college people of Colorado, but it also attracts several out of state and even out of country spectators. Because there demo is mainly us college kids they give out some slammin’ deals for ski passes and concert tickets. How slammin’ of a deal? Try $95 if you show a student ID for 2 days of skiing or boarding at all four mountains in Aspen. There’s also several other options that aren’t too troublesome on the wallet, for music passes and what not if you show a student ID.

So basically if you and a few of your skiing or boarding buddies want to have yourself a grand old weekend that you will most certainly enjoy I highly suggest looking into getting yourself to “Winter X Games”.
